Diane specialises in public and stakeholder engagement and evaluation. She provides advice and support to organisations on engagement strategies and designing and running engagement projects.
Diane is interested in the conversations between those who develop, decide upon and implement policy and the people on whom those policies have an impact. Many of Diane's projects address complex social and ethical issues - for example, those arising from developments in scientific research or from the need to balance competing interests or stretch already tight budgets.
She works on qualitative research, deliberative engagement and dialogue projects and evaluations of public and stakeholder engagement. Her fundamental commitment is to processes are fair, balanced, inclusive and transparent - as well as interesting and challenging for all those involved.
Much of Kai's work deals with the relationship between citizens, frontline services and policy development. Through the use of collaborative approaches, social networking and deliberation Kai helps clients to make better public interest decisions, and deliver services in a more targeted, personalised and efficient manner.
Kai values the contribution citizens and communities make, and the empowering benefits of effective citizen engagement and collaboration.
Harriet joined Dialogue by Design in August 2011. Her role involves supporting the project managers in all aspects of the consultation process, and in administrative duties.
Prior to joining Dialogue by Design Harriet worked in the policy team of the British Ecological Society in a varied role, combining contributing to government consultations with maintaining the policy website pages and engaging members in the society's policy work. Before this Harriet worked with Bracknell Forest Council on a project assessing the implementation of bat mitigation required for planning permission within the borough, during which she developed research and analysis skills.
Harriet holds a Master's degree in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation from Imperial College
Mark joined Dialogue by Design in November 2007. His role sees him work on the analysis and reporting of responses to consultations. Alongside this, Mark supports the team with a wide range of activities such as organising workshops, website development and the processing of consultation responses and event registrations.
Previously Mark worked for the London Fire Brigade where he assisted the auditing and enforcement of fire safety legislation in public premises. He also carried out a research project for the Fire Industry Association on the impact of new legislation which saw him liaise with stakeholders such as the Department of Communities and Local Government and the UK's fire and rescue services. The findings of the project were published in a leading trade magazine.
Mark holds a BA History (Hons.) from University of East Anglia.
Taryn joined Dialogue by Design in September 2011 and is currently working with on a range of projects. Her role involves supporting project managers with the analysis and reporting of consultation responses as well as the organisation of workshops.
Before joining Dialogue by Design, Taryn had work experience with PM&M Accountants where she researched and analysed potential new niche markets. Recently Taryn has worked for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council on a programme designed to engage and promote the well being of Young People. She has always been involved in event organisation and has undertaken research projects in South Africa and Egypt.
Taryn holds a Masters degree in Natural Sciences specialising in Geology from the University of Cambridge.
Having joined Dialogue by Design in January 2011 Lucy's role involves supporting project managers in the execution and administration of a range of consultation processes.
Lucy has experience in both qualitative and quantitative analysis, with qualifications including a postgraduate degree in social science research, with a focus on environmental psychology. She applied these skills in research projects with Cardiff and St Andrews Universities. Prior to joining Dialogue by Design Lucy enjoyed 6 months encouraging the people of Bristol to cycle as part of the innovative Cycling City project. This role involved planning and executing cycling themed promotional activities, and carrying out motivational interviews with members of the public. Lucy also has a broad range of administrative experience with small and large companies across the country.
Lucy holds a Masters degree from Cardiff University and an undergraduate Masters in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews.
Isabelle Guyot is a project manager at Dialogue by Design, specialising in stakeholder liaison and management.
Her background is in business administration, and she has several years of experience working with both customers and stakeholders. Prior to joining Dialogue by Design, Isabelle spent four years working on a United Nations initiative called the Global Compact (a voluntary code of conduct on social responsibility that companies can sign up to and deliver), being the main contact point of the French network.
Isabelle holds a Master degree in Public Relations in Environment and is multilingual, speaking English, French and German fluently.
David joined Dialogue by Design in January 2011. His role involves supporting the project managers in the implementation of various projects, including handling and processing responses to consultations, contributing to the management of stakeholder databases and dealing with enquiries.
David's skills include quantitative analysis and handling large amounts of data. Previously David worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was involved in the production of Remuneration Reports for benchmarking purposes, collecting and analysing data on private sector remuneration policies. Prior to that, he worked in Financial Reporting for Lidl UK.
David holds a Masters degree in Environment and International Development from the University of East Anglia.
Erwin joined Dialogue by Design in January 2005 and is a long established member of our team. Erwin is both an experienced project manager and responsible for maintaining IT systems and protocols. He has broad experience in managing consultation projects and his strengths are in co-ordinating multiple project strands and switching between a strategic and a detail-oriented perspective. His work in IT involves aspects such as: web interface development, meeting accessibility standards, usability testing, data storage systems and system security.
He has worked in various areas of project management such as event organisation, publishing, and employee research. At his previous position as Senior Associate for an Employee Research company in London, Erwin organised employee surveys for large international companies. Prior to this, Erwin was Project Manager for the Heinrich Boell Foundation in Berlin in the Sustainable Development team. He was responsible for project co-ordination, budget administration, liaison with speakers and overseeing the production of publications. During this role Erwin worked on the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002 which involved communication with a wide range of people from all over the world.
Erwin holds degrees in Business Administration (MBA), Psychology and Multimedia/Web Authoring.
Fionnuala joined Dialogue by Design in February 2011 and contributes to a range of projects, including the analysis and reporting of consultation responses and the organisation of workshops.
Before joining Dialogue by Design, Fionnuala worked for an environmental initiative in Bristol that managed a network of sustainability stakeholders across the city. She holds a degree in Natural Sciences specialising in Zoology from the University of Cambridge.
Alfie joined Dialogue by Design in July 2011. He supports project managers in the handling and analysis of consultation responses, arranging workshop logistics, stakeholder research and other related duties.
Before joining Dialogue by Design, and following experience in political campaigning and policy research, Alfie worked in Paris for a business sustainability network, supporting its launch in English-speaking countries. Returning to Britain, he joined a European Social Fund project as Learner Engagement Officer, meeting with a variety of private and third sector employers to help Londoners working in care, charity and the arts develop their leadership skills and access suitable management training.
Alfie studied History and Politics at Oxford University as an undergraduate and has an MA in Intellectual History from the University of London.
Sarah has been with Dialogue by Design since August 2005 and in the time has made invaluable contributions to several ongoing face-to-face, paper and web-based projects. These projects have covered issues related to the environment, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and local participation.
Based on her experience as a research assistant in both Canada and Australia she brings in high levels of organisational and communication skills combined with an understanding of sustainability issues. Within the field of sustainability Sarah has dealt with a variety of disciplines and carried out cumulative research related to benchmarking, guideline development and sustainable destination management.
Sarah holds a Bachelors degree in Environmental Management specialising in Sustainable Development.
Ian joined Dialogue by Design in January 2011. He contributes to the handling and processing of consultation responses, as well as assisting project managers with the coordination of logistics for workshops and other support duties.
Before joining the team Ian completed a placement with the Planning Policy unit at Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, carrying out research to support the evidence base for local planning policy. This involved surveying and assessing commercial and industrial sites in the Borough, collating data on local employment trends and liaising with local property agents. Prior to this Ian worked in an administrative support position at Surrey County Council.
Ian holds a masters degree in Planning and Sustainability from Kingston University.
Remco van der Stoep is a project manager at Dialogue by Design, specialising in research and analysis. In previous positions he has managed a series of research projects on a variety of topics. His work involved collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, liaising with clients and stakeholders and writing reports.
Having lived and worked in different European countries, Remco is multilingual and fluent in speaking and writing English, French and Dutch. Remco holds a Masters degree in Environmental and Infrastructure Planning from the University of Groningen.
